At William Lovell Church of England Academy, we are deeply committed to serving our community and preparing our students to flourish in modern Britain.
We recognise and celebrate the rich diversity of our country—multi-faith, multi-cultural, and ever evolving—and we work to ensure that every student feels valued, respected, and safe.
Rooted in our Christian ethos, and guided by our values of Excellence, Growth and Responsibility, we actively promote the five fundamental British values as defined by the Department for Education:
Simply opposing forms of intimidation, discrimination, and radicalisation isn’t enough for us. We actively encourage our students to be an ally, to report concerns and challenge their peers where appropriate to do so. We work hard to re-educate students where they use language that they do not properly understand the meaning of, and we ensure sanctions are always put in place for anybody who knowingly or maliciously undermines fundamental British Values. These instances are very rare at William Lovell.
We follow national equal opportunities guidance, ensuring that no individual or group is disadvantaged because of faith, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, political views, financial background, or any other status.
Promoting British values is not limited to lessons—it is embedded in the daily life of our academy. Through the Curriculum, our PSHE and RE programmes, Collective Worship, and a wide range of enrichment activities, students learn to understand, respect, and contribute positively to the world around them.
Like young trees growing in open fields, our students are encouraged to develop strong roots in their beliefs and values, while being open to the perspectives of others. By the time they leave us, they are ready to take their place in society as thoughtful, compassionate, and responsible citizens who will contribute to the common good.
